    Notes
    • Birth certificate lists Marie's’ name as Maria.
Certificate is in possession of Gary Petranek
She was born in Pecin, CZ house #144.

      Religion: Catholic
Came to U.S. alone in 1910.
Worked as housekeeper for the Rudolph Novak family.
Vera Mae says she was very soft spoken and kind, but also a very deter mined woman.
Her grandchildren were a very important part of her life. Marie was raised Catholic but converted to Christian Science and was very religious - she often had visions.

She became sick to her stomach; doctors found a tumor connected to her navel.
An operation was performed but doctors said she was too far gone. She was taken to a convalescent home which made her very angry. She insisted on leaving and going home and refused to stay at the convalescent home. She lost weight and bled to death.

Cemetery: 5255 N. Pulaski, Chicago IL.
      Places she lived in Chicago:
27 East Harrison Street - that's from the duplicate of naturalization record
449 West Deming Place - that's from the cookery book
511 West Melrose Avenue - that's from Maria Rose's death certificate

The American name is spelled "Mlynar" but in the Czech tradition, an "ova" is added to the surname to indicate a married female.
