    Notes
    • Carol Kostakos Petranek received much information on the Pappas and Morfogen families from Nick. He was very interested in family history research and worked with me for several years. I encouraged him to write his own personal history, which he did in January 1999, and it is a treasure of family history information. Nick also sent me the Paul Morfogen Biography, written by Paul's son, Zachary; several letters and a family group sheet dated Jan. 5, 1996 , in possession of Carol Petranek.

Christening held at St. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Brooklyn, NY.

Nick's sudden death came as a shock to all of us. According to daughter, Merrianne: "he had ben having some heart issues and his Parkinson's was getting worse. He was failing, but not the point that any of us expected him to die. He went to the grocery store and sat down on a bench inside the door, presumably to rest a minute, and never got up. Massive coronary."
