~Info from Audrey Benson King: Phil Ackley did as little as possible . Dad said
that one time they got a letter and they were having a terrible time . Mother
wanted to send money and Grandmother too, but Minnie said we don't kn ow how bad
off they are and they haven't paid us from last time. Walter Mercer always
stopped and bought a big piece of meat to take when they went to visi t them
because they never had anything to eat. Cora was always complainin g about her
back or something hurting. Phil had been sick. I heard this over and over as
a little girl and was so tired of this. (phone conversation with Mab el Mercer
      Wirth and Gary Petranek 9/18/95).
