      Emma Alice Birk King was born near Allendale, Missouri, November 27, 1882, and died at Macy, Nebraska, March 30, 1920 aged 37 years, 4 months and 3 days. She was married to Leslie King at Grant City, Missouri on July 4, 1910. To this union three children were born: Audrey Ellen, age 8 years; Mabel Lucille, age 6 years, who preceded her mother to the great beyond Sept. 22, 1919; Welby Matthew, age 11 months. She joined the reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the L.D.S. of Allendale, Mo., and was baptized in 1891 by Elder H. A. Stebbins and lived a very faithful, consistent life and remained so until the end. She leaves to mourn her departure, a husband, two children, father, mothr, two sisters -- Mrs. Cora Ackley of Allendale and Mrs. Minnie Mercer of Grant City, four brothers, Ruben and Oscar C., both in California, Charles A. of Allendale, and Herbert V. of Kenesaw, Nebraska also a host of immediate relatives and friends. She was a true wife and a loving mother. Funeral services were conducted by Elder P. Mucies at Allendale, April 1. Interment in the Allendale cemetery.

      Her battle's fought, her race is run;
      Best is the path she trod
      For she espoused the glorious cause,
      In prompt obedience to the laws,
      Of the eternal God.

      Birth: info from Audrey King 9-18-95.

      Emma and her husband went to Wadena, Minnesota. Lucille was born there. Then they moved but she died. Audrey was born first, then Lucille, then Welby (born in Nebraska). Lucille died when she was 6 years old. Leslie & Emma lived in Nebraska, but not in Pender, NE.

      Marriage story from Audrey Benson King (Sept. 18, 1995 phone conversation with Mabel Mercer Wirth: My parents entered some kind of contest and they won the chance to be married in public. My mother insisted on
      an LDS minister, so he married them in public, and then they went back to church somewhere and had a real ceremony. She insisted on being married LDS.
