    • Note from Catherine Kostakos to Carol Petranek:
Tessie's father had a hard time making a living so he moved the family to NY and worked as a bartender at the (Chris) Pappas Restaurant on 14th Street (in Brooklyn?). He changed the family name from Papoulias to Granson when the children were growing up so they would have an Americanized name that is easier to pronounce

      Seeks $9,000 Loan Payment
CANTON - John Nickles, a partner in the Blue Arrow Keno club near Canton, Tuesday was sued in Stark County common please court for payment of a $9,000 loan he allegedly received last Aug. 12 from Andrew Granson of Canton. Granson, a bartender, was granted a judgment of $9,268.80, including five per cent interest, after filing his petition in which he declared that Nickles had signed a promisory (sic) note for the loan last Aug. 12. Granson told the court that Nickles had refused payment after his earlier demands. Granson's lawyer, Harry W. Schmuck, was campaign chairman for Republican J. Stewart Ake in the letter's antiracket mayoralty drive last fall. Ake had singled Nickles out as Canton's alleged racket chief. Nickles a week ago was named as one of seven defendants in a suit seeking to recover $20,000 in alleged gambling losses at the Terrier Smoke Shop.
