    Notes
    • Jimmy Pappas built the Papagiannakos School in Agios Ioannis (St. Johns) which is in use to this day (2014).

Nicholas J. Pappas Personal History, January 1999 (in possession of Carol Kostakos Petranek) states that James N. Pappas and Demetrios or James Papagianakos were partners in the Pappas Restaurant at 135 - 3rd Avenue.

Ellis Island website: Dimitrios Papagianakis arrived in Ellis Island on March 27, 1914 at age 18; he was single; occupation was workman. He was from Agios Ioannis, Greece; his father was Nicolaou, and he was going to the home of his brother, Grigorios, at 63 Newark Street in Hoboken, NJ. His ship was the Athinai sailing from Piraeus. This was his first trip to the U.S. This info puts his birth year at 1896, which corresponds with the information we have.

Mitron Arrenon, Agios Ioannis, Lakonia, lists Dimitrios as born in 1897. This record was received by Carol Petranek in April 2006 in response to my request for information on the Kostakos and Papagiannakos families in St. Johns.
