Email from Chris Connell-Skurky, connellc10@hotmail.com, July 2011:
My Murphys (Urvan and his sister Ellen Florence Murphy) grew upnot far from the Martin Van Buren McKisson family in 1870 (I also have foundMartin Van Buren McKisson on the Summit County Land Record Maps for 1872, whichone can find in ancestry.com).

There is a separate landownership map for 1891 for Northfield,Ohio, and there you can see Urvan’s plots near where the MVB McKisson land hadbeen.

MVB McKisson and his family moved to LaGrange in Lorain County,Ohio for the 1880 census, and Martin Van Buren McKisson ends up a few housesaway from the Warren Miller family, and hence you get Emma Miller.

Then George and Emma do divorce (I’m not exactly sure when), andEmma had married Urvan Murphy around 1895. Emma and Urvan are in Northfield inSummit County in the 1900 census.

George and his new wife Mabel also end up in Summit County, andGeorge dies there in 1901, and you can actually see his grave atFindaGrave.com, and his wife died in 1919 (although she lived in Portage Countyand is found there in the 1910 census).

(Lorain County does not have divorce records. George’s second wife appears to come from Portage, so it might be likely that George remarries in Summit anyway, because there is no other way to explain the reason why Emma gets married to Urvan, except for the “I know a guy...’ thing.)

"Copied notes from libraries throughout the midwest, searching in Missouri the spring of 1989: Rachel Minerva McKisson in the town of Everett Missouri purchasing the following lots: 56, 60, 61, and 64, reg in book of deeds 532, 7 Oct 1868 from James Wilcox and wife, warrenty deed 185.00, Cass County, Missouri. This was a complete surprise, as I knew nothing of her travels after the death of Jeremiah in California. This is truly a remarkable woman to travel as she did, to California by wagon train three times, losing a child, twice. Willie buried at Ft. Bridger, Wyoming, and a girl on the trip to return to Missouri in the year 1868.
Rachel McKisson Book #2, pg. 745 to Samuyel White warrenty deed, sold lots in Everett issouri, Jan 6, 1869. Believe she returned to Calif at this time, where she met and married John B. Suave, bearing two more children, Annie, and John B. Suave. Rachel lived her life out in California, dying 1910.

Letter dated Sacramento May 23rd,1944
Dear Jane and All:
I will write a few lines tonite to tell of our loss.

Jeff passed away this AM at 9:30 am, he has been in bed over 3 months and there isn't anything left of him, he was just a skelton. One thing we are thankful for he had no pain, he simply wasted away.
He had the best of care and everything he asked for or wanted. All the family are here. Only the youngest daughter. She was home in February for 3 weeks. So she won't be down to the funeral.
Annie and I are all that is left of the once big family.
I am alone again, Etta has taken work that she has to be on hand all the time. She has 2 days a week and gets $50 clear. She has to look out for herself now as all the boys are married and have someone else. We are having nice weather now..... Annie may be up to the funeral Friday. I am not sure. I hope you are all well. I will close with love to all. No signature.\
